The Physician’s Philosophy

In the village of Shivpur lived a famous physician named Ramnath. He treated all his patients—rich or poor—with equal care.

One night, he was awakened by persistent knocks on his door. When he opened it, he found two visitors standing anxiously before him. He asked them about their troubles. The young man explained that his sister had fainted, while the other visitor, a farmer, mentioned that his grandson was suffering from a high fever and was delirious.

“Can both of you pay me my fees?” asked Ramnath. The farmer remained silent, but the young man stepped forward confidently. “I can pay you right now—in advance!” he proclaimed.

Ramnath considered the situation carefully. “In that case, young man, you should go to the other physician, Jaydas. Both patients need immediate attention. Jaydas won’t visit or treat any patient for free. Let me accompany this poor man, who, it seems, cannot pay,” he explained.
