God and the Atheist

Once upon a time, there was a rich man living in a large city. He had so much money that he could purchase anything he desired. He often said to himself, “What need do I have for God? I see no necessity for Him in my life!” After a few years, he boldly declared to himself that there was no God at all. He became an atheist, a non-believer in the divine.
One day, he was invited to speak at a public function. While boasting about his wealth, he stated, “There is no God. If He truly exists, I challenge Him to strike me dead within five minutes!” For five minutes, nothing happened. The rich man, feeling triumphant, mocked, “Have I not proven my point? Are you not convinced?”
Suddenly, a middle-aged man stood up and asked, “Do you have any children?” The wealthy man replied, “Yes, I have a son. Why do you ask?”
The middle-aged man continued, “If your son gave you a gun and asked you to shoot him, would you do it?” The wealthy man, now puzzled, responded, “Of course, I couldn’t—I love him too much to even consider that!”
“Then, you understand why God didn’t strike you dead,” the man concluded. Slowly, the rich man’s eyes filled with tears. That night, upon returning home, he knelt down in supplication, reflecting on the love that connects him to his family and the divine presence he had denied.
