Ram lived in a town with his wife and daughter. His younger brother resided in a nearby village and also had a daughter.

One day, Ram received the heartbreaking news that his younger brother’s wife had passed away. In response, Ram traveled to the village and brought his niece back with him.

Six months later, Ram wrote to his younger brother, letting him know that he could take his daughter back to the village whenever it was convenient. However, his brother was preoccupied with other responsibilities and did not come for her until three months later.

“Your daughter is doing well here. You need not take her away,” Ram told his brother when he arrived.

“Then why did you write to me to take her back?” his brother inquired. Ram then explained quietly, “You see, my wife initially did not show any affection for your daughter. But once she realized that the child might leave soon, she began to shower her with love. Now she does not want to part with her!”
