For Son’s Sake

Viswanath, a renowned physician in the village of Vijayapur, was highly regarded by the villagers for his exceptional skills and knowledge. However, despite his reputation, he faced a challenge when illness struck him. His son, eager to follow in his father’s footsteps, attempted to treat him, but unfortunately, there was little improvement in his condition as time went on.
One day, an old disciple of Viswanath, a promising physician named Sudhakar, came to visit him. “I’m here to help,” he said as he approached the ailing doctor. Viswanath, despite his weakness, managed to sit up and replied, “You see, my son has almost cured me. You need not waste your time here!” With that, Sudhakar left, respecting the bond between father and son.
As Viswanath gazed at his son, he sighed, “If Sudhakar had cured me, the villagers would have insisted that he stay here permanently. You would not have thrived.” These were the poignant words he uttered before he breathed his last, a testament to his enduring love and concern for his son’s future.
