The Conscientious Burglar

One night, a thief broke into a house. He noticed a young man soundly asleep on the floor. Silently, he spread out the scarf he had brought to carry the stolen goods, then began ransacking the place. Meanwhile, the youth, who was actually awake, rolled onto the spread-out scarf and pretended to snore.
The thief searched in vain, unable to find anything worth stealing. He glanced back at the muscular young man blissfully sleeping on his scarf. “It’s wiser to leave my belongings behind than to encounter this wrestler!” thought the lean thief to himself, deciding to make a hasty exit.
Just as he was about to leave, the young man said, “Good evening, Mr. Thief! Please, if you don’t mind, shut the door properly behind you so that no one else may enter!”
“Don’t be foolish,” replied the thief, his tone tinged with despair. “Let me leave the door open because someone else might want to bring you a blanket, just like I brought you this nice bed sheet! Goodbye!”
