Punishment to Hunger tells the story of a clever thief named Pamala who attempts to evade consequence through her cunning. One day, she is caught by Jagveera, a shrewd ruler who understands the motivations behind her actions. Jagveera sternly addresses Pamala, stating, “You’ve been caught red-handed. Don’t seek any excuses to diminish your crime.”

Pamala, driven by her cleverness, reasons that since hunger cannot be punished, she should escape the consequences of her actions. She believes she can somehow distance herself from the crime that led her to plunder the royal treasury. However, Jagveera sees through her justification and decides to teach her a lesson.
