Luck That Went Flying!

The Mysterious Valley
Beyond the first range of the Himalayan mountains lies a mysterious valley, accessible only through the kindness of a great hermit. This valley is said to grant fortune, but visitors cannot stay for more than a day. Anyone who lingers past sunset risks never returning alive.
Long ago, a hermit decided to show kindness to two young men, Prithvin and Mahim, allowing them to explore the valley. “You’ll see a river,” the hermit instructed. “Both of you should not spend your day on the same side of the river; instead, separate and explore each shore. You will find equal wealth,” he advised. Turning to Prithvin, he added, “Remember to keep your cool. Trust and patience are essential; otherwise, you may lose everything.”
The Search for Wealth
The two friends followed the hermit’s guidance and reached the valley through a secret passage. Prithvin stayed on the left shore while Mahim crossed to the right. As the day went on, Prithvin searched tirelessly for treasure but found nothing. Growing weary and impatient as the sun began to set, he thought, “My time and energy have been wasted!”
When the sun dipped below the horizon, he surrendered his search and sat down on the riverbank, glancing across at Mahim. “Did you find anything?” he shouted.
“Yes, of course, as much as you found!” Mahim replied.
The Consequences of Anger
“Shut up!” Prithvin shouted angrily, picking up a stone and throwing it at Mahim. Though he missed, the stone splashed into the stream. “Don’t be a fool!” Mahim yelled, his words whisked away by the strong breeze.
“How dare you call me a fool!” Prithvin screamed, furious, and hurled another stone at Mahim, which also fell into the water. Frustrated by his inability to hit Mahim, Prithvin searched for another stone. All he could find was a very small one. However, as he examined it closely, he refrained from throwing it because it glimmered like gold. He realized, indeed, it was gold.
The Unexpected Revelation
Just then, Mahim returned to Prithvin’s side, displaying two large and one small lumps of gold. “This is what I found! I’m sure you must have found the same,” Mahim said. “But you threw away both the bigger lumps!”
This revelation sent Prithvin into a frenzy of frustration. It was then he truly grasped the importance of trust and patience, realizing that anger had cost him dearly.
