A Secret Revealed

Ramsewak and Virdas came to settle down in the bazaar more or less at the same time. They were in the same business and soon became friends. However, over time, Virdas grew very prosperous while Ramsewak struggled to keep up. Rumors of the significant sum of money Virdas had deposited in the bank piqued Ramsewak’s curiosity. He began to wonder, what was Virdas’s secret? Why couldn’t he also achieve the same level of wealth?

Determined to find answers, Ramsewak decided to confront Virdas. One evening, he visited Virdas’s house, just as Virdas was lighting a lamp. “Come, my friend! What brings you here at this hour?” Virdas asked with a welcoming tone.

“My brother, I want to have a plain talk with you,” Ramsewak replied as he settled down on a mat spread out for him by his host.

“Plain talk? Good,” Virdas said, unexpectedly blowing out the lamp and plunging the room into darkness.

“Why did you put out the light?” Ramsewak inquired, surprised by the sudden darkness.

“My friend, we can talk in darkness, can’t we? Why burn the oil unnecessarily?” Virdas replied calmly.

At that moment, Ramsewak stood up, feeling a sudden understanding wash over him. “Why are you going away?” asked a surprised Virdas.

“My brother, I have found the answer to the question that was on my mind. Thank you,” Ramsewak replied as he exited, now enlightened by the encounter.
