The Past That Was

Anand’s unexpected encounter with the mendicant reveals a connection to a royal past, setting the stage for a journey of self-discovery.

The past that was

As Anand sat down to eat his lunch, a mendicant appeared at his door. “Would you please spare some food for a hungry soul?” he pleaded. Surprised, Anand invited the man inside, made him sit down, and asked his wife to serve some food.

The mendicant looked at Anand and abruptly declared, “In your previous birth, you were King Veerasinha.” Just then, Anand’s wife entered the room, and the mendicant continued, “And you were the queen of Erika.”

Anand was astonished. He had never expected a mendicant to possess such powers to read one’s past. “So, I was a minister, and my wife was a queen in my previous life, is that what you’re saying? That’s something extraordinary! But wait, what happened to King Veerasinha? What did he become?”

“Please don’t beat me!” he cried out as Anand followed him, heart racing with a mix of emotions. The revelation left Anand with more questions than answers, igniting a curiosity about the past he had yet to fully understand.
