Janaki, while drawing water from the village well, leaned over it. Unbeknownst to her, her gold necklace had become loose and slipped from her neck into the depths of the water.

The well was deep, and there was only one man in the neighboring village who possessed the skills to dive into it. However, he demanded fifty rupees for his service, a price Janaki could not agree to.

As she pondered her misfortune, Janaki noticed Jagusingh passing by. Though he was a notorious thief known for his cunning ways, he had never been caught red-handed, which allowed him to elude punishment.

Janaki spoke loudly about her lost necklace, hoping Jagusingh would hear her. He feigned ignorance and did not respond. However, that night, he sneaked into the well and found the necklace. Unfortunately for him, as he emerged from the water, villagers who had been watching caught him in the act.

Janaki recovered her necklace without spending a single paisa. Moreover, Jagusingh faced the consequences of his actions, finally caught as he attempted to steal. Janaki felt a sense of relief and justice delivered on that fateful night.
