A peasant couple and their four children had just returned from the bazar. As evening descended, they began their journey back to the village. On their way, they spotted the coachman from their village, who was returning after dropping off a passenger, his horse-drawn carriage now empty.

“Hey, brother, how much will you charge to take us in your carriage?” the peasant inquired.

“One rupee for you and your wife. I’m happy to give a free lift to your children, along with your bag and sack,” replied the coachman.

The peasant turned to his children, saying, “Jump in, kids, and take the bag and sack with you. Your mother and I can walk!” This decision reflected the family’s willingness to make the best use of the situation, prioritizing their children’s comfort as they made their way home.
